Transport and infrastructure

 

– Melbourne Metro Tunnel: The $13.7 billion project is set to open in 2025, creating twin tunnels and five new underground stations to increase rail capacity.

 

Sydney Metro West: Work continues on the Sydney Metro West project, with several integrated stations, including Pyrmont and Sydney Olympic Park, planned.

 

Western Harbour Tunnel: Tunneling for this Sydney project is accelerating in 2025 to ease congestion on existing crossings.

 

Coomera Connector (QLD): Stage 1 of this new motorway, linking Logan City and the Gold Coast, is expected to be completed by late 2025.

 

Project EnergyConnect: This major electricity transmission line connecting South Australia and New South Wales is expected to be completed in early 2025.

 

-Suburban Rail Loop (VIC): Tunnel boring and station construction for the first phase (SRL East) is a focus for 2025.

 

-New Bridgewater Bridge (TAS): This project is listed as one of the major developments in 2025. 

 

 

Renewable energy and resources

 

-Clarke Creek Wind and Solar Farm: This large-scale renewable energy project is progressing, with 194 turbines planned.

 

-Australian Renewable Energy Hub (AREH): This project was granted major project status in May 2024 and is a significant renewable energy initiative.

 

Australia-Asia Power Link (AAPowerLink): This project was granted major project status in June 2025.

 

-Bonaparte Carbon Capture and Storage Project: Granted major project status in June 2025.

-Broken Hill Cobalt Project: Granted major project status in June 2025. 

 

 

Urban development and other projects

 

-Providence Ripley masterplan (QLD): This is a major urban development with a $2 billion investment, focusing on master-planned communities.

 

-Queen Elizabeth Hospital Stage 3 Redevelopment (SA): This healthcare facility, named Kangkanthi, is a new flagship project for South Australia.

 

-Saddletop Wind Farm (NSW): A proposed 738MW wind farm with a battery storage component.

 

-Defense infrastructure: The Department of Defence is spearheading several large-scale projects worth $200 million or more to enhance national defense infrastructure
